About the project

Parallax is a deep-space observation and satellite instrumentation company. They build and operate a constellation of scientific satellites for research institutions, space agencies, and universities. They do not sell connectivity. We sell precision data — extraordinarily accurate measurements of gravitational fields, atmospheric composition, stellar positioning, and orbital mechanics.

Parallax occupies the space between pure academia and commercial aerospace — more rigorous than a contractor, more applied than a university. Their clients are scientists, not consumers. Their work is cited in journals, not advertised on billboards.

They operate from a sparse, brutalist campus outside Reykjavik, chosen for its dark skies and geopolitical neutrality. We are obsessive about accuracy. Our internal culture is quiet, methodical, and deeply serious.

The Parallax logomark is a satellite dish rendered as a concentric-ring panel array — the form of a dish antenna, divided into elliptical bands of rectangular solar panels. Each panel in the mark is either filled or empty. That binary state encodes a number.

The number encoded is 285.9949 — the parallax of 61 Cygni A in milliarcseconds, as measured by the Hipparcos satellite and catalogued in SIMBAD. The precise measurement that gives the company its name is embedded in the mark itself.

The parallax value 285.9949 is encoded as ASCII binary. Each character is represented by 8 bits. Filled panels represent 1, empty panels represent 0.
